Position: Design Engineer I

POSITION OVERVIEW

This entry level Design Engineering position will provide support to the Design Engineering team in Farmington Hills, Michigan. Applicants should already possess the educational engineering acumen to quickly learn the automotive industry design and validation requirements. The Design Engineer I will work closely with experienced design engineers on the design function, test validation, document and record keeping, prototype parts assembly and customer interface. This position will also work closely with the Sales team to determine design specifications, modifications and update drawings for North American and global automotive OEM’s.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES and COMPETENCIES:

  • Provides status updates on project activities
  • Assist in warranty return issues and investigation.
  • CATIA/CAD transfer to customer
  • Coordinate activities of outsourcing testing companies.
  • Assist with managing the external and internal testing process (warranty return, basic electrical bench testing)
  • Basic understanding of electrical circuits is a plus
  • Operation of basic lab equipment for component testing
  • Maintain (or in some cases create) database for document retention and retrieval

ORGANIZATIONAL ALIGNMENT:

  • Position will work in Design Engineering Department
  • 5-10% travel
  • Reports to the Design Engineering Manager
  • Lcoated in Farmington Hills, Michigan

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering-required
  • CATIA V5, 3D Modeling experience, preferred but not required
  • MS Office and other relevant engineering software required
Manufacturing Engineer I

POSITION OVERVIEW

Design, develop, test, and evaluate integrated systems for managing industrial production processes while coordinating quality, inventory, logistics, materials, costs and production.

JOB DUTIES:

  • Perform any/all tasks related to Manufacturing Specialist
  • Make PLC/HMI changes to equipment with little or no assistance/guidance from Lead Manufacturing Engineer
  • Monitor daily defect and downtime issues. Report findings to Lead Manufacturing Engineer.
  • Modify documentation based off recommendation / guidance of Lead Manufacturing Engineer
  • Manage small to medium scope equipment modification projects
  • Design, quote and purchase small to medium scope project tooling using direction from Lead Manufacturing Engineer

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 4-year Engineering Degree, Electrical or Mechanical.
Manufacturing Engineer II

POSITION OVERVIEW

Design, develop, test, and evaluate integrated systems for managing industrial production processes while coordinating quality, inventory, logistics, materials, costs and production.

JOB DUTIES:

  • Perform any/all tasks associated with Manufacturing Specialist and Manufacturing Engineer I
  • Make PLC/HMI changes to equipment with no assistance/guidance from Lead Manufacturing Engineer
  • Monitor daily defect and downtime issues. Report findings to Lead Manufacturing Engineer and/or resolve issues without supervision
  • Modify documentation with approval of Lead Manufacturing Engineer
  • Manage large scope equipment modifications.
  • Design, quote and purchase large scope tooling using approval from Lead Manufacturing Engineer

  • 4-year Engineering Degree, Electrical or Mechanical.
Electrical Design Engineer

POSITION OVERVIEW

Diamond Electric Manufacturing Corporation seeks an Electrical Design Engineer in Farmington Hills, MI responsible for providing electrical engineering support during the design and testing of electrical components, equipment, and systems in support of the development of our electronic control products. Specific duties of the position include:

JOB DUTIES:

  • Defining engineering design requirements in alignment with customer specifications
  • Developing engineering proposals for new electrical component products and/or improvements to existing electronic controls
  • Preparing component and sub-system level engineering design failure mode and effects analysis (DFMEA) documents for electronic control products
  • Establishing electrical engineering design studies for new component parts and preparing request for quote (RFQ) documents for new product proposals
  • Designing and developing electrical equipment and testing electrical component materials in accordance with engineering best practices
  • Completing printed circuit board (PCB) layout placement strategies and preparing engineering plane definitions
  • Performing electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) optimization activities for electronic component parts
  • Preparing Design for Test (DFT) and Design for Manufacturing (DFM) engineering plans

QUALIFICATIONS

Must possess a bachelor's degree (or foreign equivalent) in Electrical Engineering or a related field and five (5) years of experience in a related position.

Must also have three (3) years of experience (can be concurrent) with each of the following:

  • Electro Magnetic Compatibility Testing (ESD, RI, RE, Transients, and BCI)
  • The design, simulation and testing electronic circuits with IGBTs
  • Designing and validating Printed Circuit Boards (IPC-A610E) and PCB Assembly processes
  • (Test Equipment operation (including Oscilloscopes, function generators, power supplies, and multimeters)
